Before there ever was a Young Neighbours, there was a handful of songs written and recorded on a whim, in the film school sound room. With no real band or plan, Eric Pauls wrote songs as a way to learn how to use Protools with his friends Cameron Clowe and Joses Martin. Lyrics were conceived in the moment, and recorded live on the floor as a cheap drum kit clanged in the background. These lo-fi recordings became the favourite tunes of classmates and floated around on CDs and hard drives for years. That was until Sept 30, 2023, when renowned documentarian and former classmate of Eric's, Dan Olson used the music in his Folding Ideas film "This is Financial Advice".

Now that millions of people will hear pieces of these improvised demos, Eric figured it was time to share them with the world.
